A Revamped Chancellor’s House Becomes The Oliver Hotel of Oxford

Exciting changes are happening in the charming, college town of Oxford, Mississippi. Chancellor’s House, the modern, 38-room, redbrick hotel that sits on the corner of Lamar and University is rebranding and its official new name is The Oliver Hotel. Over the past decade, the Oliver Hospitality brand has grown rapidly all around the country. Making a name for itself from the Sierras, in South Lake Tahoe, to the bustling downtown of Atlanta, but it was in Knoxville, Tennessee where the Oliver brand first made a name for itself. Representing a culture of great service and a wide range of food and beverage concepts, it has always been a goal to continue to expand the Oliver brand.

This complete renovation to the hotel will have you booking your next trip and making the cultural south your next destination. Now that our outer facade has been successfully updated, you can expect a wonderful welcome experience from the minute you arrive at The Oliver Hotel of Oxford. All our guest floors are currently getting a refreshing, eclectic look that includes all-around new carpet, fresh paint on walls, custom drapes and blankets for each guest room and contemporary furniture. Internationally sourced vintage Hermes scarves will be used to decorate and spice things up in all guest rooms. And our bathrooms will offer completely new color palettes, décor and wallpaper that will inspire you to take your next Instagram selfie.

Contemporary Dining in the Heart of Oxford

If you’re a foodie and looking for the next unique spot to dine, The Oliver Hotel’s main restaurant, Kingswood, is also making exciting new changes to its main dining area. Enjoy this one-of-a-kind, luxury dining experience for dinner, weekday happy hour or weekend brunch. With its extensive list of both regional and international cuisine and a growing list of international fine wine, it’s no wonder why locals and Oxford guests alike are making Kingswood a stopover for their evening plans.

For craft cocktails and happy hours, you’ll also be thrilled to learn that coming soon we will have a speakeasy cocktail lounge with a secret entrance near the main lobby. Prefer a drink al fresco with sunset views? You have the option of choosing from an assortment of refreshing drinks at our outdoor patio seating area or from our new rooftop bar that will be making its debut in 2024.

When Tradition Meets Modern Elegance, Modern Elegance Meets Art

At The Oliver Hotel we believe a stay with us should evoke curiosity and a look into the historical hub that is Oxford, Mississippi. When you walk through our doors and into our lobby, you’ll be met with an immersive art and a cultural experience.

The lobby will continue to act as a satellite art gallery for our local Oxford Treehouse Art Gallery. This is a partnership we’ve had since 2018 and hope to continue for many more years to come. We personally hand select the pieces that will be displayed, and guests and art enthusiasts are able to purchase on the spot.

The Oliver Hotel will also continue to showcase a historic ode to the influential, Nobel Prize-winning author, William Faulkner. William Faulkner was one of the most celebrated writers of Southern Literature and continues to have a huge presence in this small town today. We will have an exclusive exhibit with original pieces that belonged to the author in our main lobby area.
